What is Empower Barre?

Empower Barre was developed to meet one of the most common fitness goals…..to look and feel strong.

All of our classes at Barre One have an element of empowerment. In Empower Barre it is our primary focus.

What will Empower Barre do for me?

The Empower Barre workout aims to raise your heart rate increasing the release of endorphins. These endorphins interact with the receptors in the brain leaving you feeling more positive and energised in both body and mind.

Although the workout is low impact you will be burning fat through interval style training completely reshaping your entire body with particular focus on the legs, gluts, abs and arms.

Empower Barre targets both the superficial, larger muscles as well as the deep supporting muscles. The synergy of fitness and pilates training strengthens and supports the skeletal system whilst sculpting definition into the larger muscles, creating a more physically defined and functionally stronger body.

What type of movements should I expect in Empower Barre?

A flowing sequence to music using the barre as support is how your Empower Barre experience will begin. Familiar strength training exercises such as lunges, squats and heel raises are all common movements incorporated in an Empower Barre class.

Small hand weights are used facing away from the barre to tone the upper body and arms. Tricep and bicep curls are used, coordinated with lower body movements or with a held contracted pose.

Floor work follows at a steady pace, using fitness and pilates principles with a strong focus on strengthening and toning the abdominals.

The workout ends with a well deserved stretch to encourage long lean muscle development.

How fit do I need to be?

There is no need to be super fit to take an Empower Barre class.

You will feel the burn in your legs as you pulse deep into the muscles and if you’re lucky you’ll experience ‘the barre shakes’ ☺ but we encourage everyone to work at their own pace in all Barre One classes. The experienced instructors will progress or regress exercises throughout the class.

Empower Barre is not a class to be intimidated by, rather a fun challenge for both mind and body. It is for the days you want to increase your heart rate and feel alive in both mind and body. Perfect for full body transformation and cardio health.
